Paul Rudd is profiled in the adj issue of Entertainment Weekly as part of the promotional blitz for his new comedy I Love You, Man. The part of the article, written by Dave Karger, that I was most interested in was subtitled: Why He Feels a Petite Gay. I know hes gay-friendly and all, but his comments sure seem to stereotype gay people. Judge for yourself:
I always thought Id be a really good gay guy. I love American Idol. I watch Antiques Roadshow like crazy. Guys prefer Oscar Wilde,Stephen Fry, Elton John theyre all very radiant with razor-sharp wit. David Sedaris whos funnier than David Sedaris? The Saturday Nighttime Live that I hosted was such a gay-heavy show. But it didnt even cross my mind until after. The family that kept kissing each other I didnt even deliberate of that being gay.
I think of doing interviews for The Dissent of My Affection and people would say, What was it like to kiss a guy? Like it was such a shockkng thing. How many times
I dont know about all of you, but Im digging Paul Rudds bearded look in the queer comedy Ideal Home, which also stars Steve Coogan. The trailer, while feeling a bit dated, does point toward a (hopefully) funny film.
Ideal Home has Paul Rudd and Steve Coogan playing a gay couple who have to make changes to their grand lifestyle when Erasmus grandson enters the picture. I have to admit that the trailer does show stereotypical queer characters. However, Paul Rudds bearded look makes up for it.
Check it out!
Heres the official synopsis:
Steve Coogan and Paul Rudd star as Erasmus and Paul, a bickering gay couple whose life is turned inside out when a ten-year old boy shows up at their door claiming to be Erasmus’ grandson. Neither Paul, nor Erasmus, are ready to give up their extravagant lifestyles to be parents, but maybe this little kid has thing or two to instruct them about the value of family.
Principal photography for Ideal Hometook place in , and maybe thats why the jokes sense a bit dated to me? Anyway, it does star Paul Rudd and Steve Cooga
Saturday night is a lot less spicy without Stefon, the fabulous "Weekend Update" club correspondent that turned actor Bill Hader into a comic star. But fear not. While Stefon has retired from "Saturday Night Live" to a "haunted diaper" in Chelsea, as Hader tells me in our recent chat, the funny-man flexes his impressive dramatic chops in "The Skeleton Twins," playing Kristen Wiig's twin, Milo, a struggling actor.
Aaaand, he's gay.
During our talk, Hader discussed his "license to be totally fabulous" as Milo, his regrettable transgender-centric "SNL" sketch, and the savory highlights of his A-list make-out roster.
You lip-syncing to Starship's "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" in "The Skeleton Twins" would make everyone on "RuPaul's Drag Race" so proud.
(Laughs) You have to get me on that show! That would just be the best.
How much drag did you and Kristen observe while training for the famed lip-syncing sequence?
I mean, we had to learn that song, and we had a lot of fun doing that, but we didn't have a lot of time. There wasn't a lot of time in the morning to do it. It wa
