About Us
The LGBTQ+ Project of Indiana Legal Services is a statewide legal assistance program providing legal advocacy, representation, and information to LGBTQ+ Hoosiers. We also provide technical assistance to courts, governmental agencies, hospitals, schools, pro bono partners and other institutions to promote LGBTQ+ affirming policies, practices and awareness. Our goal is to address the disproportionate rates of poverty and violence in the LGBTQ+ community by productive on issues that cause and affect poverty, violence, and discrimination.

Human Rights Campaign Condemns Indiana Senate for Passing Two Anti-LGBTQ Bills; Urges Indiana House to Reject Bills

Indianapolis, Indiana – Today, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) — the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) civil rights organization – condemned the Indiana Senate for passing two anti-LGBTQ+ bills. Senate Bill is an anti-LGBTQ+ bill that would ban age appropriate, medically necessary gender affirming care for transgender youth. Senate Bill would prohibit local governments from stopping the dangerous, abusive practice of so-called “conversion therapy.” HRC urges the Indiana House of Representatives to reject both bills.

It's Pride Month, a time to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community. But some states in the U.S. are more welcoming than others.
Out Leadership, a gay advocacy group, recently created a map to depict where gay and transgender people face the least or most amount of discrimination and hardship in the nation.
Indy Pride What to grasp about the parade, festivalAccording to USA TODAY, Out Leadership has conducted the LGBTQ+ business climate index for six consecutive years, and all 50 states saw a drop in averages in the past two. By looking at the current treatment of LGBTQ+ people, such as governing policies and prevalent community attitudes, the organization was able to identify the best and worst spots for the gay and transgender community.

Indianapolis, Indiana – Today, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) civil rights organization, condemns Gov. Eric Holcomb for signing Senate Bill into law. The bill is an anti-LGBTQ+ bill that will ban age-appropriate, medically necessary care for transgender youth. Indiana now becomes the twelfth articulate to enact a law restricting access to gender affirming care.
Gender-affirming care is age-appropriate care that is medically necessary for the well-being of many transgender and non-binary people who experience symptoms of gender dysphoria, or distress that results from having one’s gender identity not match their sex assigned at birth. Gender-affirming care is the integration of medical, mental health and social services.
